The Reel
The Shimano Ultegra CI4+ 14000XTC Surfcasting Reel
is Shimano’s flagship surf casting spin reel, and has upgraded to
Ci4+ rotor and body which delivers a surf reel that is
substantially lighter to hold, yet stronger and more rigid at the
same time.

X-Ship provides better gearing and power, while the Aero Wrap II
oscillation system delivers uniform line lay on its big pit AR-C
spool, so casting accurately to distant gutters and structure has
never been easier. This reel also comes with a spare spool and 3
different spool reducers in sizes 10000. 6000, and 3500 meaning you
can have either different line weights or lengths suited to your
style of fishing. From Elephant fish to Kahawai to Trophy Snapper
and Kingfish, the Shimano Ultegra Ci4+ XT-C has it wired!

X-Ship
By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with the S-ARB bearings
and integrating bigger drive gear, Shimano increased the gearing
efficiency and power. This results in a fishing reel with
ultra-light handle rotation; less effort and power giving a perfect
rotation even under heavy loads.

AR-C Spool Management System
Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations
it has been determined that this new AR-C spool lip design provides
longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while
preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows
the line to flow off the spool in smaller loops during the cast,
which means less slap on the stripper guide. This means longer
casts with less friction.

Aero Wrap II Oscillation System
Aero Wrap II is a worm gear oscillation system with a specially
designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds for the
Propulsion Spool Lip design. It provides uniform line lay and
winding shape to prevent loss of energy during the cast while
providing longer casts than other oscillation systems. So, casting
distance increases with less effort required.

The Rod
The new Shimano Ultegra BX 425BXI Surfcasting Rod
has an improved blank with Hi-Power X technology. This blank stands
out in strength and stiffness whilst reducing blank twist, making
this rod a true casting machine. The Ultegra BX is strong, stiff,
yet light. The Hi-Power X blank provides excellent casting distance
and accuracy. It’s fitted with Fuji Lowrider Alconite guides and
Fuji DPS reel seats, Fuji stainless steel SiC guide tip, plus Cast
Control Grip that helps facilitate a strong hold when casting.

Hi-Power X
In Hi-Power X construction, the blank’s outermost layer is
diagonally wrapped with carbon tape, which forms an array of “X”
shapes. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of
the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish
species. The flexibility allows Shimano to adjust these wraps
during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength
and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction
delivers sharp and crisp rod control by the angler.
