Power and speed to take on the biggest fish
The Shimano Talica 20 Status Blue Water DDM Bent Butt
2-Speed Game Combo gives you the power, speed and comfort
you need to take on brutal Kingfish and other monster fish. The
Shimano Talica reel offers the power of a game reel in a compact
size. Plus, the matching Status Blue Water DDM rod provides the
comfort and power you need for those long, tough fights.
The Reel
The Shimano Talica 20 II 2-Speed Overhead Reel is
built on solid engineering principles that puts this reel in a
league of its own. This series offers a high-speed retrieve that
you can use for jigging up brutal Kingfish from offshore structure
where speed can make all the difference or use it to target Marlin
and Tuna trolling lures or pitching out a bait to a fired up
pelagic.
Each model has a one-piece cold forged (for extreme strength) and
machined Aluminium frame, this is treated with a proprietary
surface process for cutting-edge corrosion protection. Shimano then
added a lightweight cold forged aluminium spool, oversized HEG
(High Efficiency Gearing) gears, waterproof carbon drag system and
6 S-ARB bearings for super slick operation. The Talica has been
constructed to withstand massive drag pressures and the carbon drag
system has been waterproofed (when engaged) to handle salt water
spray. And what’s more the High Efficiency Gearing means that it has
the power to fight fish well above its weight class.
Metal Series
Metal frames not only keep moving parts in precise alignment, they
also feature the use of the latest anodising, plating and painting
techniques for a beautiful and durable finish.
Cold Forged Aluminium
The Talica’s spool provides increased strength and durability over
diecast aluminium or graphite spools.
Shielded Anti-rust Bearings
Anti-rust Bearings are made of stainless steel that has been
through the A-RB process. At least 10 times more
corrosion-resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings. It
also features shields on both sides of the bearing to reduce the
possibility salt or sand and allow the bearings to spin faster and
longer.
2-speed Gearing
This mechanism is designed so that gear changes are quick and easy,
even when fighting a fish. The low gear ratio used for high-power
retrieves is selected by pushing the button on the base of the
handle. Return to the high-speed ratio by sliding the release
button along the handle shank. By using two sets of gears, the
drive and pinion gears are always engaged. There is no gear meshing
during the shift.
The Rod
A combination of the Status Bent Butt and the classic Tiagra rod,
the Shimano Status Blue Water DDM Bent Butt Game
Rod is built to tackle the most dynamic offshore and
inshore sport fishing situations found throughout NZ’s surrounding
oceans. Featuring powerful E-Glass/carbon construction, this rod
has extreme strength whilst still maintaining comfortable feel,
making it perfect for fishing using electric reels, and both Tiagra
and Talica reels. This rod is finished with Pac Bay guides and
detachable Pac Bay bent butt.
