The Reel
Inside the Shimano SLX 150 HG Baitcaster Reel
Hagane Body, brass gearing delivers reliable cranking power and
three SUS bearings and one roller bearing means everything turns
smoothly. The reel incorporates a compact design, however the reel
has the same line capacity as Shimano’s standard 150 sized reels,
fitting 150m of 20lb Power Pro. A longer 45mm Throw Handle working
in conjunction with two model options featuring gear ratios of
7.2:1 means that the slow and methodical lure worker and the angler
who likes a bit of speed are well covered by the new SLX. On top of
this, the Shimano SLX 150 HG Baitcaster Reel‘s max
drag settings of 5kg provide some amazing stopping power should it
be needed!

VBS
VBS uses centrifugal force rather than magnets to aid in
controlling the cast. The individual brake weights, when turned on,
are forced outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes
most often occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the
spool. Once the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure lessens,
allowing the spool to continue spinning. The result is a much more
consistent spool speed that is easier t manage and takes advantage
of the reel’s maximum casting distance.

Hagane Body
The Hagane Body is produced from high rigidity aluminium or
magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at
the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock
solid housing and support of the moving internal gearing and
greater efficiency throughout the reel.

The Rod
The favourite Backbone series of rods just got an overhaul. The new
Shimano Backbone Overhead Slow Jig Rod is now
stronger than ever, with a higher quality blank, good quality
componentry and a new slick design that is bound to please.

Graphite Blank
Utilising high quality graphite sheets rolled on custom designed
mandrels, a sensitive yet extremely lightweight performance fishing
blank is created.

Graphite Composite
Rod blanks combining both graphite and fibreglass materials in a
particular manner can create a blank with characteristics that are
best of both worlds, making a rod that has fibreglass robustness
with the power of graphite.
